MAY 4th: WALK, BIKE & ROLL TO SCHOOL TODAY

Park & Go on Walk Bike & Roll to School Day - MAY 4th

Hi Friends:

We're celebrating WALK, BIKE & ROLL TO SCHOOL DAY on May 4th with a Park 'n' Go opportunity.

ANY STUDENT THAT walks, bikes or rolls to school the morning of May 4th will earn a dress down pass for use any day in the month of May.

HOW IT WORKS

After 7:15AM that morning our parents/guardians can park in the Vineville Methodist Church Parking Lot (at 2045 Vineville Ave --enter via Forest Ave) and from there, walk with their children to school. All children MUST be accompanied by their parent/guardian.

ROUTE: Down Forest Ave., turn right on Third Ave., turn right on and walk up Ward Street (see map below). The route is 0.6 miles long and should not take more than 30 minutes for even the littlest legs.

Parents/Guardians can return to their cars via a shortcut (marked on the map).

WE HAVE ASKED OUR PARENTS/GUARDIANS TO MAKE THIS A TEACHABLE MOMENT: Here is a link to some pedestrian safety tips that they are able to share with our kids before and during the walk. It is a short video for elementary aged kids that hits all the highlights https://youtu.be/QUXLT3gcFb8

And we should all check out the valuable information available on our Macon-Bibb Pedestrian Safety Review Board’s website. We all need a refresher on this information from time to time.

Dismissal will be as normal on that day for our students .

P.S. If people are running late, but still want to participate... they can still walk to school via Vineville Ave [that should take about 7 minutes]- but we ask you to please be EXTRA EXTRA EXTRA careful with your child.

PPS: Many thanks to our friends at Bike Walk Macon , Vineville United Methodist Church, UCreate Macon and Macon Bibb Pedestrian Safety Review Board for all their work in promoting a healthy, safe, bikable and walkable Macon.
