Our enrichment classes are commonly referred to by students and teachers as “specials”, below we have more information about what we offer.
Art
SPCC School's Art program offers a hands on learning environment which is richly enhanced by the study of art history. Students explore the elements and principles of art design under the guidance of both visual and audio instruction. A variety of art media is taught to students and includes: drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Students create projects that involve cross subject integration, which enriches their lives beyond the art room.
Music
At Saint Peter Claver Catholic school, PK3-1st grades learn the fundamentals of pitch and rhythm through aural and kinesthetic practice. In 2nd-8th grades, students are taught basic note reading and contrapuntal singing as part of a preparatory choir program.
All students are taught to analyze and appreciate a varied repertoire of music. Students also engage their musical studies to make inter-disciplinary connections with subjects including art, history, math, and social studies. Students are given regular opportunities to lead singing in Mass and other prayer services, as well as participate in the annual Christmas concert, spring Fine Arts Night, and the Barnes and Noble book fair, where they "let their light shine".
Computer Studies
Come visit our state of the art STE(A)M Learning Lab. Students are taught through facilitation - giving them a 21st century skillset, and along with direct teacher instruction, is one that aligns with deeper Christian values. Our lab not only engage students in STEM careers but can also be used to teach conflict-resolution, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills. The reach of the computer lab does not end with weekly classes, as classroom teachers often bring their classes to work on various technology projects such as blogging, Power Points, science simulations, and math applications.
Physical Education
