St. Katharine Drexel: The Pride of SPCCS

Our Foundress, St. Katharine Drexel

Happy St. Katharine Drexel Day!

St. Katharine founded our school in 1903 to teach the Black children of Pleasant Hill and Macon - one of 60 such schools she founded across the south and southwestern parts of our nation.

From the age of 33 until her death in 1955, she dedicated her life and a fortune of 20 million dollars to this work, used her talents, skills, and resources to educate thousands of children, and advocate for civil rights causes. During that time she repeatedly squared off against groups such as the KKK and never backed down in her work.

Each day at St Peter Claver Catholic School, we strive to be the vision that St. Katharine dedicated her life’s work to.

As the only historically Black Catholic School in Middle Georgia, we understand the importance of spirituality, selflessness and the ways in which compassion and integrity shape our students’ success. We are proud to be part of St. Katharine’s legacy. It lives on here.

St. Katharine Drexel, PRAY FOR US.
