Melvil Dewey, the creator of the Dewey Decimal System is honored today (his birthday)

His system is still used to efficiently maintain our libraries’ inventory of books.

The Dewey Decimal System makes it easier to locate the book you need. Check in with our school librarians, to find out more, or read more about how it works, here. Dewey Decimal System Day Over 100 years later we are still grateful to Mr. Dewey for his contribution to library science.

Libraries are beautiful places we can visit to learn, relax and connect with our community. The picture above is of one of the most beautiful libraries in the world, The Long Room in Trinity College Dublin.

Fun Fact: Did you know that The Long Room holds the Book of Kells, a beautifully illustrated manuscript of the Four Gospels of the Bible. The Book of Kells has ONE MILLION VISITORS each year!!
