Sr. Elyse Staab has been a member of the Daughters of Charity for 57 years.  She has an undergraduate degree in elementary education, a Master’s degree in clinical social work, and a certificate in spiritual direction.  She has served in a variety of ministries including teacher, housemother, caseworker, agency administrator, Seminary Directress (forming new members to the Daughters of Charity) and Provincial of the Emmitsburg province.  In 1991 Sr. Elyse opened Nazareth Home here in Macon, a residence for single pregnant women, which later became Family Advancement Ministries.  She has served on the advisory board for St. Peter Claver Catholic School, and has volunteered to teach ESL class at FAM.  Currently Sr. Elyse serves in Vincentian Family Ministry, working with members of the extended Vincentian Family, including Ladies of Charity, St. Vincent DePaul Society, Affiliates of the Daughters of Charity and former members of the community to provide Vincentian formation.  She is the Spiritual Advisor for the Mother Katharine Drexel Conference of the St. Vincent DePaul Society.  She also provides spiritual direction and does retreat work.

She was quoted on CatholicPhilly.com as saying "The more we practice apostolic reflection, the more we will see God,” she said. “When it’s practiced by ourselves or together, God is present. God is here now.”

Sister Elyse also led our faculty retreat this summer before school reopened and granted us some amazing insight into how to start the year off right!
